Lee n’ Eddies Gets to Help Feed 135 Homeless

homeless enjoying food

Donating Food for the HomelessSaturday the 16th was a great day for us.  Lee N’ Eddies and Food for Friends got the privilege to partner together and help provide food for 135 homeless men at the Ewing Annex Hotel on Clark Street in the Chicago loop.  The Ewing Annex Hotel is for low income Men who are mainly homeless with very little money and/or job.  Our friends at the hotel were served up a delicious brunch.  Pastor Moore from ATTCOM ministries blessed the meal and Dan Herzog gave a short, inspiring message to the men before they lined up to get their meals. The meal included fried chicken, honey Hawaiian meatballs, pasta marinara, macaroni and cheese, red skin potatoes, almond green beans, and fresh baked bread and butter.  For dessert we provided jello and gourmet cookies. Almost every bite was eaten within the hour.

One of the core beliefs of our company is that we are all called to serve each other and we were honored to help provide food and be a part of this event.  As I’m sure many you know, we can go into these situations with the idea of us giving something but we always come out of these events feeling like we have been the receivers because it is always so eye opening and there is always so much appreciation shown.

If anyone is interested in helping serve at the next event, that will take place in August.  Volunteers can contact Christina at Food for Friends website to sign up.  In the meantime, let’s all continue to challenge each other to serve someone else this week with our time, our encouragement or even just a few extra smiles sent to strangers that we pass by. Have a great day everyone : )
